Intercultural Conflict: Recognizing OpportunitiesGoing on about our daily business is something our society does well. Often we each go about our work, schooling, family, and social lives focusing on the immediate people and things around us. However, if we are to promote the issues tied to cultural diversity we must look outside of our comfort zone and think of our social responsibility. When we see evidence of intercultural conflict and racism, instead of assuming a role of complacency or helplessness, we must take action. Change will not happen unless we do something about what is happening around us. If we are to promote what it is to live in an ethical culture, society must change and it is those of us living in our societies who have the power to perpetuate the change. What Are the Major Ethical Issues of Our SocietyMany times addressing societal issues means asking questions and finding solutions to those questions. Engaging in dialogue with others is one way to bring these questions out into the open and offer a chance to develop answers. What are the major ethical issues of our society? What can we do to address these issues? How can we stress the importance of these issues to others? As we ask ourselves these questions it is important to make an effort to do what we can to answer them, even on the smallest level. Even when it comes down to your own community or even simply your own family, ask yourself what you can do to decrease intercultural conflict on the street where you live on or even in the place in which you work. In these areas and in society as a whole, we all have responsibility. Ethical Culture, Society RelationsEMMA challenges you to recognize the opportunities for change that are presented to you and take advantage of them. Set an example and in your surroundings promote an ethical culture. Society will be changed on smaller levels and as those changes are made, changes on larger levels will happen. Ask yourself and others, "What are the major ethical issues of society?" and work together. As long as there are people in society we will have issues to deal with, but as long as we have people who are willing to deal with those issues, we will continue to have hope for a better society.
