What is Social Responsibility?

Knowing your place in a society is one of the first steps it takes to realizing that you matter and you can make a difference. We often feel we are so insignificant that anything we do will go unnoticed. When many people adopt this frame of mind it is a detriment to society as a whole. What is social responsibility? How can what you do make a change? Our responsibility to our society includes the care we show one another on many levels, from individuals, groups, multicultural communications, and corporations. We can choose to play an active or an inactive role in these relationships, choosing to establish partnerships or shun them. Whatever your stance, you can choose to help answer questions such as, "What is corporate social responsibility?" and help others to learn the meaning of what it is to aid society or continue on about your business and not think twice about those around you. EMMA can help you set a positive example.

What is Corporate Social Responsibility?

The more prominent an individual or business, the more we tend to take notice of what they are doing. Whether we agree with their actions or not, it is in our nature to follow what choices these figures make, where they go, who they associate with, and what they do. As a business owner or someone who is simply part of a company it is important to ask yourself, "What is corporate social responsibility?" This question recognizes there is more to punching the clock and there is more to be done outside the walls of your business. Social responsibility, without the promise of humanitarian awards or recognition, is the mark you make, the relationships you establish with the community around you.

Celebrating with Humanitarian Awards

The individuals and groups EMMA recognizes are those that are setting examples for the rest of us to follow. They prove that differences can be made and change can last. They don't do it for the humanitarian awards or for the recognition, but because they know the world can be a better place and they are passionate about making that happen. They've asked themselves, "What is social responsibility?" and they have gone about to find the answer, including any who are willing to be involved. It's not about the notoriety, but we feel they deserve to be recognized.
